The challenge

CRYOPDP specialises in one of the most demanding areas of logistics: temperature-controlled shipments for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. A delayed or mis-routed shipment doesn't just mean a customer complaint — it can mean destroyed vaccines, failed clinical trials, or worse.

With volume growing rapidly and a partnership with DHL expanding their reach, they needed their operations platform to scale without linearly scaling their headcount.

What we built

We designed and built an AI-assisted operations platform that:

  • Automated routing decisions — An ML model trained on historical shipment data that recommends optimal carrier, route, and packaging configuration for each shipment
  • Anomaly detection — Real-time monitoring of shipment telemetry with automated alerts when temperature excursions or delays are detected
  • Natural language ops interface — An AI-powered internal tool that lets operations staff query shipment status, generate reports, and escalate exceptions in plain English
  • Integration layer — Deep integrations with DHL systems, customs APIs, and third-party temperature monitoring hardware

The outcome

Processing time per shipment dropped by 70%. The operations team, without adding headcount, tripled their effective capacity. The platform now processes over 10,000 shipments per day with a 99.9% on-time delivery rate.

CRYOPDP was subsequently acquired by DHL — in part because of the operational capability the platform demonstrated.
